A shared hosting service is just one of the web hosting services in the market which in its name itself, has many websites residing on only one server that is connected to the Internet. It is shared with thousands of users and must have a system administrator. Shared hosting is convenient and practical for small business owners who are tight with their budget but still need to have their business hosted on the web to lure more customers into buying from them. This is economical for entrepreneurs and businessmen as the price comes cheap due to thousands of people sharing the cost for the maintenance of the server. Shared hosting usually uses a web-based control panel system like cPanel, directAdmin, plesk, InterWorx, H-Sphere or another system. The provider is responsible for the management of servers, installation of server software, and all other factors of the shared website hosting. Most servers are based on the Linux OS and LAMP (software bundle), while some providers offer Microsoft Windows based or FreeBSD based solutions.
